Hello!  Whether you are reading about Catholic Charities Service Corps because you are curious, considering applying, or know someone who is, I hope my words can express what this program has meant to me.  Although I have only been here for about 3 months, I have already learned so much about myself, especially through the four pillars: community, spirituality, social justice, and simplicity.  I thought the technology fast and “simple” lifestyle would be the most difficult pillar, but it surprised me and I ended up loving the freedom of simplicity.  Now, even though the fast is over, I have continued to stay “present” and not let technology take over my life....and it is amazing!  In addition to learning about simplicity, I have grown tremendously through community.  I have been challenged to completely change the way I communicate and work towards building an “intentional” community, instead of just living together.

Before coming to Buffalo, I didn't know what to expect from the coming year;  however, I came with excitement and an open mind, knowing that God had called me here for something.  Maybe I've already learned it and maybe there is more to come, but I know He is teaching me something new everyday...about myself...about my community members...about the world...and about Him.  From this Michigan girl's perspective... I hope you truly consider becoming a part of CCSC.  :)
