Catholic Charities Service Corps

Volunteers - Tori

Tori & MikeHey! I'm Victoria, a current member of the Diocesan Service Corps. This year there are eleven of us and I live with 5 members in the house located in the Black Rock community. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Family and Community Services with Young Child Development emphasis. Shortly after graduation I found myself unsure of which direction I wanted to take for my future. I met with my academic advisor at MSU to explore graduate programs and possible career choices. I left that meeting more confused than when I walked in! Directly after that I went to the computer lab around the corner and somehow stumbled upon the listing for the CCSC, contacted the office and here I am!

My job position is at the AIDS Alliance of Western New York. My official title is, Director of Client Services which means that I manage and oversee all activities at the site. I supervise the lunch program, order, stock and distribute the food pantry, schedule volunteers and interact with members on a daily basis. I look forward to coming to my placement everyday. I can not image myself anywhere else right now. I feel blessed that I was placed at The Alliance and to live in the community of volunteers that I do.

Living in community is tough, but also one of the most amazing aspects of the program. Community living is full of support and acceptance with room to grow and learn. I love each of my community members in very different way and am thankful they are on this year long journey with me!
